Things to Do In Girdwood

There are many local businesses to help you get started.  We have listed the outdoor adventures first, followed by the indoor adventures.  Can't decide?  Then start with a walk along our bike path...and make sure to bring your camera. 

 

Outdoor Activities

 

 

  • Alaska Backcountry Access offers cross country ski and snowshoeing tours around the Girdwood Valley.  They can also arrange for dog sledding rides, and a trip to a wildlife park just south of Girdwood.
  • The Ascending Path instructs and guides ice climbing tours and clinics, backcountry skiing and mountaineering.
  • Girdwood Ski and Cyclery is the best place to rent cross country skis.  You can also rent snowshoes, tele-gear, backcountry gear, bikes, and kick sleds!  Jim has over 18 years experience helping people enjoy the outdoors.
  • Glacier City Snowmobile Tours  take you south of Girdwood over frozen rivers and meadows, and right up to massive glaciers.  Great group or family activity.
  • The Alyeska Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, luxurious accomodations and dining, meeting rooms, banquets, and gear rentals.  They also have a great spa!
  • World Cup Sports offers ski and snowboard tuning, expert boot fitting, alpine ski demos, and a wide array clothing and gear for your winter adventures. 
  • The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is just ten miles down the Seward Highway, and offers an upclose view of Alaska's wildlife - including bears, moose, caribou, musk ox, bison, and more!
